Du'khung-ri Tomb (English: Du'khung-ri Tomb)

Japanese: 徳興里古墳 - とくこうりこふん(英語表記)Du'khung-ri
Du'khung-ri Tomb (English: Du'khung-ri Tomb)
This mural tomb is located at the southern foot of Mt. Maikaku in Daan City, South Pyongan Province, North Korea. The walls of the tomb, which consists of two chambers, are almost entirely covered with murals. The murals in the front chamber depict the deceased's public life, such as going on a business trip and receiving officials, while those in the back chamber depict his private life, such as banquets and drinks at home, memorial services, and horseback archery. The tomb's academic value is further enhanced by the fact that some of the paintings have never been seen before and that the murals are in very good condition, as well as the long epitaph and various other inscriptions written in ink. According to the epitaph, the deceased's name is Zhen, and he died in December of the 18th year of the Yongle era (January 409). This is an extremely important resource not only for research on the mural tombs of Goguryeo, but also for research on the history of East Asia in the 4th and 5th centuries.
