Moving bed

Japanese: 移動層 - いどうそう（英語表記）moving bed

When solid particles are stationary and a fluid is allowed to flow through the voids between the particles, and heat transfer, mass transfer, chemical reactions, etc. are performed by contacting the solids with the fluid, the bed is called a fixed bed or a packed bed. When the particles in the packed bed are continuously removed from the bottom and new particles are added from the top, and the particles in the bed are gradually lowered by gravity, and the solids and fluid are continuously contacted with each other, it is called a moving bed. In a moving bed, the fluid and solids can flow countercurrently (in opposite directions), parallelly (in the same direction), or cross-currently (at right angles).

固体粒子を静止させ，その空隙内に流体を流し，固体と流体の接触操作によって熱移動，物質移動，化学反応などを行わせるとき，その粒子層を固定層fixed bedまたは充てん(塡)層packed bedという。充てん層内の粒子を底部から連続的に抜き出し，上部から新しく供給して，層内粒子を重力により少しずつ降下させ，連続的に固体と流体の接触操作を行うとき，これを移動層とよんでいる。移動層では，流体と固体が，向流(互いに反対方向に流れる)，並流(同じ方向に流れる)，十字流(直角方向に流れる)のいずれの操作も可能である。
