Love's Sob - Ai no Oetsu

...Attracted to acting at an early age, she joined an amateur theater company at age 12 and gained experience in college plays. After graduating in 1928 and marrying (divorcing in 1932), she made her debut in a Baltimore theater company. Although she was often cast off due to her headstrong personality and fragility, she had a successful Broadway role in The Warrior's Husband (1932). She was then invited by RKO to make her film debut opposite John Barrymore in Love's Scream (1932), directed by George Cukor. She appeared in front of audiences in slacks and lived a private life isolated from Hollywood high society, giving her a different image from the stars of the time, but she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her third film, The Morning After (1933).
