Frequency distribution

Frequency distribution
A distribution of statistical data expressed as a frequency (the number of items belonging to each interval). Also called a frequency distribution. An example would be the scores of 500 examinees on an entrance exam with a maximum score of 200 points, divided into 10 intervals with 20-point intervals between 0 and 200 points, and the distribution of the number of people in each interval. A table of this distribution is called a frequency distribution table. The intervals are called classes, and the minimum value of the variable in each class is called the lower limit of the class, the maximum value is called the upper limit of the class, and the range of the classes is called the class interval. The median value of each class is called the class value. Note that if the above example of the number distribution is rearranged by the total number of people who scored below the upper limit of the class for each interval, in other words, if the cumulative frequency is shown, it is called a cumulative frequency distribution.
