A former town in Tamura County in central-eastern Fukushima Prefecture. The main settlement, Tokiwa, is a village in the Abukuma highlands that connects the central and coastal areas. It was once the center of the Miharukoma production area and prospered as a horse market. Tobacco, rice, and livestock are cultivated here. In March 2005, it merged with Takine, Ogoe, Funehiki, and Miyakoji villages in Tamura County to become a city, Tamura City. 84.41 km2 . 6,706 people (2003). 福島県中東部,田村郡の旧町。主集落の常葉は中通りと浜通りを連絡する阿武隈(あぶくま)高地中の街村,かつて三春駒産地の中心で,馬市で栄えた。タバコ栽培,米作,畜産などを行う。2005年3月田村郡滝根町,大越町,船引町,都路村と合併し市制,田村市となる。84.41km2。6706人(2003)。
