Reform War - Kaikaku Senso

...In Mexican history, it is translated as the "Reformation Period." In the narrow sense, it refers to the Reformation War (1858-61), also known as Mexico's Three Years' War, but it is more appropriate to think of it as a period of struggle between conservative and progressive forces from 1854, when the monarchy of Emperor Maximilian collapsed after the fall of Santa Anna, until B. Juarez was re-elected president (1867). Therefore, the Reformation can be said to be a period of anguish in which opposing ideological camps, following their own political beliefs, sought to complete the foundations of the nation in order to escape the chaos and devastation of the country since Mexican independence and transform it into a modern nation.
