Lacerta (the Lizard)

Japanese: とかげ座(蜥蜴座) - とかげざ（英語表記）Lacerta

Abbreviation: Lac. A small constellation in the northern sky along the Milky Way in autumn. It is in the area between Andromeda and Cygnus, and was newly established in the 17th century by German astronomer J. Hevelius. There are no bright stars, so it is difficult to imagine the shape of this small animal from the starlight. As it is along the Milky Way, novas often appear in this constellation. Its approximate position is right ascension 22h25m, declination +43°. It reaches its culmination at 8pm in late October. [Ishida Goro]

略号Lac。秋空の天の川沿いにある北天の小星座。アンドロメダ座とはくちょう座の間の天域で，17世紀にドイツの天文学者J.ヘベリウスによって新設された。輝星はなく，この小動物の姿を星影から想像することはむずかしい。天の川沿いにあるので，この星座にしばしば新星が出現する。概略位置は赤経22h25m，赤緯＋43゜。午後8時の南中は10月下旬である。【石田五郎】
