Kinshiro Toyama

Japanese: 遠山金四郎 - とおやまきんしろう
Kinshiro Toyama
A shogunate official in the late Edo period. Saemon-no-jo. His given name was Kagemoto. Kinshiro was his nickname. In his youth he led a dissolute life and associated himself with the town scoundrels, but it is said he repented when he took over the family business. He served as head of the small storehouse, small construction magistrate, construction magistrate, accounting magistrate, and northern magistrate. He worked on Mizuno Tadakuni's Tenpo reforms, but was dismissed due to differences of opinion, and after Mizuno's downfall he became the southern magistrate. He was praised as a great magistrate who was well versed in the state of the world. It is said that he had a tattoo of a snowstorm of cherry blossoms, and in storytelling he is affectionately known as "Toyama no Kin-san." Kansei 5 - Ansei 2 (1793-1855 )
