Japanese: 遠刈田[温泉] - とおがった

It is located in the open area along Matsukawa River at the eastern foot of Mt. Zao in Zao Town, Katta County, Miyagi Prefecture. It is said to have been discovered in the early 17th century, and its effects are described in the An'ei Fudoki. Carbonated spring with high radium content. 74°C. Base for the Zao Echo Line. Also a good place for hiking and skiing. Kokeshi dolls are a local specialty. Buses are available from Shiroishi-Zao on the Tohoku Shinkansen, Ogawara, Shiroishi, and Sendai Stations on the Tohoku Main Line.
