The long petioles are winged, and the undersides of the leaves are densely covered with white fluff. From summer to autumn, small white flower heads are produced at the ends of the branches. The tubular flowers around the flower heads are female and bear fruit, while the inner tubular flowers are male or hermaphrodite and do not bear fruit. The achenes are green and club-shaped, with the upper half densely covered with sticky hairs, which easily attach to other objects and are scattered.
