Founded in 1882 as Osaka Boseki Company, based on the idea of ​​Eiichi Shibusawa, the company is the largest cotton spinning company in Japan, established in 1914 by merging Osaka Boseki Company and Mie Boseki Company. Commonly known as Toyobo. Since then, the company has continued to absorb and merge, and has expanded into wool, rayon, and staple fiber. After World War II, it became a leading comprehensive textile company that handles all three major synthetic fibers: acrylic fiber, polyester fiber, and nylon. In 1966, the company merged with Kureha Boseki, one of the top ten spinning companies. Non-textile divisions such as films, medical, and functional materials account for more than 50% of the company's sales. Head office in Osaka, factories in Tsuruga, Iwakuni, and others. Capital in 2011 was 51.7 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 340.5 billion yen. Sales breakdown (%) is as follows: films and functional resins 37, industrial materials 21, life sciences 9, clothing fibers 25, real estate 1, and others 7. Overseas sales ratio 21%.
