Copper vein - Domyaku

Japanese:
Copper vein - Domyaku
Year of death: 1801.7.12
Year of birth: 1752
A writer of rhapsody in the mid-to-late Edo period. The Hatanaka clan. His given name was Masayoshi, his pen name was Shigen, his common names were Masagoro and Tanomo, his pen name was Kansai, and his rhapsodies included Domyaku Sensei, Taiheikan Shujin, and Katakuchi Dojin. He was born as the son of Tsuzuki Shinsuke in Sanuki Province (Kagawa Prefecture) and was adopted by Hatanaka Masafuyu, who served the Shogoin Imperial Family in Kyoto. He studied Confucianism under Nabarodo, but after publishing Taiheirakufu in 1769, he was known as the Edo rhapsodic teacher (Ota Nanpo) and as a writer of rhapsodic poetry. Other collections of rhapsodic poetry include Seta Karaha Poetry, Fukiyose Mokyu, and a collection of competitive poems with Domyaku called Nidaikafuga. His style is described as Domyaku's satire compared to Domyaku's humor. In addition to his rhapsody, his talent for satire was also displayed in humorous works such as "Hari no Kuyo", "Taiheiraku Kokuji Kai", and "Fuzoku Sansekishi". However, he was not simply a man of satire and humor; in his later years he studied the classics of Japanese studies with Shibano Kuriyama, and engaged in research on imperial tombs with Gamo Kimihira and others. <References> Mori Senzo, "Domyaku Sensei" ("Mori Senzo Collected Works", Vol. 2), Nakamura Yukihiko, "Satirical Domyaku Sensei" ("Nakamura Yukihiko Collected Works", Vol. 6)
