Geórgios Karaiskákis

1780‐1827
A general in the Greek War of Independence. Born and raised in a region where banditry was rampant, he served Ali Pasha of Ioannina as the leader of the Almatri (self-defense group) (1808-20). After Ali's downfall, he sided with the Turks and later fought for Greek independence, but was accused of surrendering and surrendering when he saw that the battle was unfavorable. He fought to put down the Peloponnesian rebellion (1824) and liberate Missolonghi (1826), and was killed in battle during the siege of the Acropolis in Athens in 1827.

ギリシア解放戦争の将軍。クレフト(山賊)活動の盛んな地方に生まれ育ち，自らはアルマトリ(自衛団)の首領としてイオアニナのアリー･パシャに仕えた(1808‐20)。アリーの没落時にはトルコ側につき，のちギリシア独立のために戦ったが，戦線の不利をみて降伏･開城，変節を非難された。ペロポネソスの反乱鎮圧(1824)，ミソロンギの解放(1826)に努め，1827年オスマン･トルコ軍をアテネのアクロポリスに包囲中戦死。
