Kinpara (golden belly) - black-headed munia

Japanese: キンパラ(金腹) - キンパラ（英語表記）black‐headed munia

A bird of the family Acanthidae (illustration) in the order Passeriformes. It is smaller than a sparrow, with a total length of about 11 cm. Sexes are the same color. The body is dark brown, with a black head, neck and underbelly, and a gray-blue beak. A similar bird with a white underbelly and a black underbelly is called the silver-bellied (illustration), but it is a different subspecies of the same species. The silver-bellied is found from southern China to the Himalayas and India, while the silver-bellied is found from central and southern India to Sri Lanka. It lives in reed beds and grasslands in wetlands, or around rice paddies.

スズメ目カエデチョウ科の鳥（イラスト）。スズメより小さく，全長約11cm。雌雄同色。体は暗褐色で，頭頸（とうけい）部と下腹部が黒く，くちばしは灰青色である。よく似ていて腹部が白く，下腹部が黒いものをギンパラ(銀腹)（イラスト）というが同種の別亜種である。キンパラは中国南部からヒマラヤ，インドに分布し，ギンパラはインド中南部からスリランカに分布している。湿地のヨシ原や草地，あるいは水田のまわりにすんでいる。
