Also known as "tsubouchi." A game in which players throw arrows into a jar (tsubo) and compete to see who can get the most arrows into it. The jar has a mouth diameter of less than 15cm and has lugs on both sides, and 12 arrows are used. The throwing distance is two and a half times the length of the arrows used. The length of the arrows varies depending on the location (indoors, garden, etc.). The loser has to drink sake as punishment. 〈つぼうち〉とも。壺(つぼ)の中に矢を投げ入れて,入った矢の数を競う遊戯。壺は口の直径が約15cm以下,左右に耳があるもので,12本の矢を用いる。投げる距離は用いる矢の2倍半。矢の長さは室内,庭などの場所によって異なる。負けた者は罰酒を飲む。中国起源の儀礼的遊戯で,日本では《和名類聚抄》に記述があるが,実際には江戸中期を除いてあまり行われなかったらしい。→投扇興
