Doāb (English spelling)

Japanese: ドアーブ（英語表記）Doāb

It means "two rivers" in Urdu and Hindi, and in India it generally refers to the area between the Ganges and its tributary, the Jamuna. Cities such as Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Aligarh are located in the region, and many historically and politically important cities such as Kanpur, Allahabad, Delhi, and Agra are located in the surrounding areas. The area between the Ganges and its tributary, the Ghagra, is also sometimes called the Great Doab. In Pakistan, the region between the two rivers is also used as the place names such as Bari Doab, Lekhna Doab, and Sindhsagar Doab.
