Sialk

Located in the central part of the Iranian plateau, south of Tehran, this archaeological site dates from the Neolithic to the period when metal tools were used. It is also called Tepe Sialk. It consists of two hills, one north and one south. It is stratigraphically divided into four periods, with the first and second periods on the north hill and the third and fourth periods on the south hill. The first period was dominated by stone tools, the second by painted earthenware, and the third period saw the start of copper casting and pottery production on a wheel, resulting in a dramatic development of culture. The fourth period was heavily influenced by the culture of Elam near the head of the Persian Gulf, and also shows influences from the Indus Valley and Egyptian civilizations.

イラン高原中央部，テヘランの南にある新石器時代から金属器使用時代に至る遺跡。テペ・シアルクTepe Sialkとも。南北２丘からなる。層位的に４期に分けられ，第１・２期は北丘，第３・４期は南丘にみられる。第１期は石器，第２期は彩文土器（彩陶）が多く，第３期に銅の鋳造やろくろによる土器の製造が始まり，文化が飛躍的に発達。第４期はペルシア湾頭に近いエラムの文化の影響が濃く，またインダス文明，エジプト文明の影響もみえる。
