〘 noun 〙① People who belong to the same clan. ※Koyo Gunkan (early 17th century) item 40, lower "Regarding the Takeda clan" ② One of the names for people of a Shinshu clan. It particularly refers to those of the same family as the Shinshu Honganji head priest after Rennyo , the eighth abbot of Honganji, in the late Muromachi period. It indicated the status of the temple. Later, people other than blood relatives were added. It is the name of the current branch families, in-house families, etc. ※Ishiyama Honganji Diary - Shonyo Shonin Diary, Tenbun 9 (1540), May 7th "Next, give three soups and five vegetables to the clan members"

〘名〙① 同じ一族に属する人々。※甲陽軍鑑（１７Ｃ初）品四〇下「武田一家衆の事」② 真宗の一門一家の人々の名称の一つ。特に室町後期の本願寺八世の蓮如(れんにょ)以後の、真宗本願寺法主と同じ家系の一族をいう。寺格を示すものであった。のちに血縁者以外も加わった。今の連枝、院家などの称。※石山本願寺日記‐証如上人日記・天文九年（1540）五月七日「次一家衆へは汁三・菜五」
