Transmission control procedure

In data communications, the method for transmitting data between two specific points without errors is called a data transmission control procedure. Data to be transmitted between two points is usually prepared in a temporary storage device called a buffer, and then sent to the buffer of the other party. For this reason, data is usually sent in blocks of a predetermined length. If an error occurs during transmission, the entire block is resent to recover from the error. For this purpose, a block check code is added to each block to check for errors.

データ通信において，特定2点間でデータを誤りなく伝送するやり方をデータ伝送制御手順と呼ぶ。2点間で伝送されるべきデータは通常バッファと呼ばれる一時記憶装置に準備され，相手のバッファに送出される。このためデータはあらかじめ定められた長さのブロックにまとめられて送られるのがふつうである。伝送の途中に誤りが生ずると，ブロック全体を再送して誤りを回復する。このためには，ブロックごとに誤りを検査するブロックチェック符号がつけられる。
