Lu Bu - Lu Bu

A military commander in the late Eastern Han Dynasty in China. His courtesy name was Fengxian. He was from Jiuyuan County, Wuyuan County (west of Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region). He was called the "Flying General" and was said to be the strongest military commander in the Three Kingdoms period, with the sayings "Among the people, there is Lu Bu, and among the horses, there is Red Hare" (Red Hare was the name of the horse Lu Bu rode). However, despite his outstanding personal military power, he lacked the ability to maintain his base and train his troops as one of the warlords. He followed Ding Yuan to Kyoto, but was bewitched by Dong Zhuo, and he killed Ding Yuan. Furthermore, fearing that his relationship with Dong Zhuo's maid would be discovered, he joined Wang Yun's plan to assassinate Dong Zhuo. After killing Dong Zhuo, he took control of the country together with Wang Yun, but his rule lasted less than two months. Wang Yun and Lu Bu did not forgive the Liangzhou soldiers led by Dong Zhuo, so they were defeated by the Liangzhou soldiers united by Li Jue and Guo Si. He continued to betray and wander, and was finally killed by Cao Cao in Xiapi. In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dong Zhuo's maid is created as Diao Chan, Wang Yun's operatic figure, and Wang Yun presents Diao Chan, who he promised to make Lu Bu his concubine, to Dong Zhuo, breaking up their relationship and having Lu Bu assassinate Dong Zhuo, in a "scheme of a chain of beauties."

中国、後漢(ごかん)末の武将。字(あざな)は奉先(ほうせん)。五原(ごげん)郡九原(きゅうげん)県（内モンゴル自治区パオトウ市の西）の人。「飛将(ひしょう)」とよばれ、「人中(じんちゅう)に呂布あり、馬中(ばちゅう)に赤兎(せきと)あり」（「赤兎」は呂布が乗っていた馬の名）と称された、三国時代最強といわれる武将である。しかし、その個人的武力が卓越していたわりには、群雄の一人として根拠地を維持し、兵を養っていく能力には欠けていた。丁原(ていげん)に従い上洛(じょうらく)したが、董卓(とうたく)に籠絡(ろうらく)されて丁原を斬(き)り、さらに、董卓の侍女との関係が発覚するのを恐れ、王允(おういん)の董卓暗殺計画にのる。董卓を殺害した後、王允とともに国政を掌握したが、その政治は2か月と続かなかった。王允と呂布が董卓の率いた涼州兵(りょうしゅうへい)を許さなかったので、李傕(りかく)と郭汜(かくし)が糾合した涼州兵に敗れたのである。その後も裏切りと放浪を繰り返し、最後には下邳(かひ)で曹操(そうそう)に殺された。『三国志演義』では、董卓の侍女が、王允の歌伎(かぎ)である貂蝉(ちょうせん)と創作され、王允が呂布に側室とすると約束した貂蝉を董卓に献上し、2人の仲を割いて呂布に董卓を暗殺させる、という「美女連環(れんかん)の計」が展開される。
