Refers to the south eaves of the Seiryoden in the Heian Palace. This is the room where nobles and courtiers were kept. It is also called Tenjo. Courtiers stayed here to serve the Emperor in his daily life, and it was also a place for nobles and others to hold meetings and do business. The room is separated from the main building by a wall, and has a comb-shaped window. On the south side, there is a veranda (called a koitajiki) to the east and a shoe slip to the west, which were used for entering and exiting from the garden. In addition to the Emperor's seat, various items such as a daiban (a table for placing food) and a karabitsu (a chest of drawers) were placed inside the room, and a daily wage slip (a sign used to confirm attendance) with the name of the courtier was hung.
