The first (1799-1855) was born Nakamura Teinosuke. He was a disciple of Kinjo Saitenzan the first. He was a one-eyed worshipper of Date Masamune, and took his stage name from his Buddhist name Teizan-in. He was known as Dai Teizan, and was good at "Gishi-den" (The Tale of the Gishi) and "Date Sodo" (The Date Uprising).


The second (1839-1874), whose real name was Sugie. He excelled in domestic dramas such as "Kurotegumi Sukeroku," but also published "Iwami Jutaro Jikki" in 1858 (Ansei 5). He was called Yanokura Teizan after his address.


The third (1835-1889) was born Uchiyama Kokichi (also known as Koshichi). He was known for works such as "Gishiden" and "Iga no Suigetsu", and after he handed over the name of Teizan he became Kinjosai Issan. He was the head of the military storytellers. The fourth (1836-1890) was succeeded by Shoryusai Teijo in 1885 (Meiji 18), and the fifth (1864-1935) was the former name of the third Kinjosai Tenzan.


The 6th (1876-1945) was born under the name Masui Choshiro. He assumed his stage name in 1907 (Meiji 40). He was known for his virtuoso rakugo story "Gishi-den," and served as both head of the rakugo storytelling association and president of the Rakugo Association from 1939 (Showa 14). He was drowned during the Great Tokyo Air Raid.


The 7th (1907-1966) was born under the name of Sato Teinosuke and took the name in 1947 (Showa 22). He inherited the family tradition of the Teizan school and was also good at ghost stories.


The 8th (1947-2021) was born under the name Sadao Komurai. He was the biological son of the 7th and the adopted son of the 6th Kanda Hakuryu. He took over the name in 1979.

初代
(1799―1855)本名中村貞之助。初代金上斎典山(きんじょうさいてんざん)の門人。独眼で伊達政宗(だてまさむね)を崇拝し、その法号貞山院にちなんで芸名としたという。『義士伝』『伊達騒動』を得意とし、大貞山とよばれた。


2代
(1839―1874)本名杉江某。『黒手組助六(くろてぐみすけろく)』など世話物を得意とする一方、1858年(安政5)『岩見重太郎実記』を上梓(じょうし)。住所にちなみ矢ノ倉貞山とよぶ。


3代
(1835―1889)本名内山孝吉(孝七とも)。『義士伝』『伊賀の水月(すいげつ)』などを得意とし、貞山を譲ってから錦城斎一山(きんじょうさいいっさん)となる。軍談師頭取の任にあった。4代目(1836―1890)は昇竜斎貞丈が1885年(明治18)に襲名し、5代目(1864―1935)は3代目錦城斎典山の前名。


6代
(1876―1945)本名枡井(ますい)長四郎。1907年(明治40)襲名。水道講談といわれるほどの名調子で『義士伝』を得意とし、1939年(昭和14)より講談組合頭取と落語協会会長を兼ねた。東京大空襲で溺死(できし)。


7代
(1907―1966)本名佐藤貞之助。1947年(昭和22)襲名。貞山派のお家芸を継承するとともに怪談物を得意とした。


8代
(1947―2021)本名小村井貞夫。7代目の実子、6代目神田伯竜の養子。1979年襲名。
