…In France, Marxism became a major trend in postwar thought, and was incorporated into the basis of a wide range of ideological explorations by Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, and others, while connecting it with Husserl's phenomenology. After the criticism of Stalin, many philosophers and thinkers, including Edgar Morin (1921- ) and Kostas Axelos (1924- ), who were members of the Argument group, began to reinterpret Marx from a new perspective, contrasting him with Nietzsche, S. Freud, Heidegger, and human sciences such as anthropology, as someone who revolutionized the epistemological foundations of modern philosophy.
