Japanese: 新魚目[町] - しんうおのめ

A former town in Minami Matsuura District, western Nagasaki Prefecture. It occupies a long, narrow peninsula that juts out into the northern part of Nakadori Island in the Goto Islands, with settlements scattered along the east coast. Settlement fishing is thriving, and aquaculture is also practiced. Sweet potatoes and potatoes are produced. Enokizu, the central settlement overlooking Arikawa Bay, has long developed as a base for whaling and set-net fishing. In August 2004, it merged with Wakamatsu Town, Kamigoto Town, Arikawa Town, and Narao Town in Minami Matsuura District to form Shinkamigoto Town in Minami Matsuura District. 25.29 ^km2 . 4,901 people (2003).

長崎県西部，南松浦郡の旧町。五島列島中通(なかどおり)島の北部に突出した細長い半島部を占め，集落は東海岸に点在。定置網漁業が盛んで，養殖も行う。サツマイモ，ジャガイモを産する。有川湾に臨む中心集落の榎津(えのきづ)は古くから捕鯨，定置網漁業の基地として発展した。2004年８月南松浦郡若松町，上五島町，有川町，奈良尾町と合併し，南松浦郡新上五島町となる。25.29km²。4901人（2003）。
