Transition point

Phase transitions in materials occur under physical external conditions (such as pressure and temperature) specific to each material, and a phase transition refers to a combination of these conditions that satisfies each condition. For example, iron, which has a body-centered cubic structure, undergoes a phase transition to a face-centered cubic structure at 1,183 K under 1 atmosphere of pressure. Therefore, this combination of pressure and temperature is the transition point in this case. Iron, which also has a body-centered cubic structure, has a Curie temperature of 1,043 K, and is ferromagnetic below that temperature and paramagnetic above that temperature. This Curie temperature is also a type of transition point.
