A row of flats with a continuous facade. Also called a terrace. Each house has its own entrance facing the street, and the whole area forms a block. This is a typical urban dwelling of early modern England. The name was given to these houses because they were built in a standardized style on a leveled terrace. The prototype of this style was built around the square in Covent Garden, London in 1630, and they were subsequently built in many cities, including London and Bath. Many terrace houses had a palace-like facade for the entire apartment complex, and many of them surrounded squares called squares, enhancing the urban landscape.
