Palais de l'Élysée (France) The official residence of the French President in Paris. It is located on the right bank of the Seine, facing the Rue Saint-Honoré. Built in 1718 by the Count of Evreux, it was home to Madame de Pompadour and Josephine, wife of Napoleon I. It became the official residence of the President in 1873 after the fall of Napoleon III.
