A town in Belluno Province, Veneto, northeastern Italy. Population 7,806 (1981). Located at an altitude of about 1,200m in the Dolomite Alps, surrounded by high peaks such as Tofane and Sorapiss. A center for mountaineering and winter sports, and known as a summer resort and tourist destination, the town also has a strong tradition of traditional craft production (woodcarving and metalwork).
