Thyseen AG

Japanese: ティッセン(英語表記)Thyseen AG
Thyseen AG
A German steel company. Founded in 1871 by August Thyssen as Thyssen und Compagnie, his son Fritz merged with steel companies in the Ruhr region to form Vereinichten Stahlwerke in 1926, which controlled over 50% of Germany's total steel production. After World War II, the company was dissolved and relaunched in the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) as August Thyssen-Hütte in 1953. It acquired related companies one after another, such as Phoenix Rheinroll, a major steel pipe manufacturer, in 1964, Oberhausen, a steel manufacturer, in 1968, and Rheinstal, a steel and shipbuilding manufacturer, in 1974, and developed into the largest steel company in Europe. In 1978, the company changed its name to Thyssen. It had a manufacturing division that produced everything from manufacturing machinery to elevators, auto parts, and polymers, a steel division, and a wide range of sales divisions, from building materials and fuel to distribution and maintenance management. In 1999, it merged with rival Krupp to form ThyssenKrupp.
