A shamisen player of Gidayu-bushi. (1) The First (1869-1944, Meiji 2-Showa 19). His real name was Asano Kusunokisuke. He was from Osaka. He became a disciple of Tsuruzawa Kichizaemon II at the age of 8, taking the name Yoshimatsu, but was transferred to the school of Katsuhichi II, who took the name Tomomatsu, and began working at the Bunrakuza. He later moved to the Hikorokuza and studied under Toyosawa Danpei II. In 1906, he left the company temporarily and changed his name to Dohachi, and in 1923, he returned to the Bunrakuza, playing for Takemoto Tsutayu III and Takemoto Osumidayu IV. He was highly regarded as a master of his unique timing and beautiful voice, and was also an accomplished composer, composing works such as "Kokaji." 義太夫節の三味線演奏者。(1)初世(1869‐1944∥明治2‐昭和19) 本名浅野楠之助。大阪出身。8歳で2世鶴沢吉左衛門に入門,吉松を名のったが2世勝七の門に移って友松となり文楽座に出勤,のち彦六座に移り2世豊沢団平の教えを受けた。1906年一時退座して道八と改名,23年に文楽座に復帰,3世竹本津太夫,4世竹本大隅太夫らを弾いた。独特の間と美音で名手の評高く,作曲にも秀で《小鍛冶》などをものした。
