Brothers of a French banker. Jewish Saint-Simonianists. They moved to Paris in 1822 and entered the business world with the support of the Rothschild family. In 1835, they succeeded in building a railway between Paris and Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and then began managing the Lyon Railway and the Southern France Railway. In 1852, they founded a personal property bank (a new type of business bank that provided long-term loans to companies), which became the driving force behind industrial development during the Second Empire. It closed in 1868. Both brothers were members of the Legislative Assembly.

フランスの銀行家の兄弟。サン＝シモン主義者のユダヤ人。兄弟は 1822年パリに上り，ロスチャイルド家の援助で企業の世界に入り，35年パリ－サンジェルマンアンレ間の鉄道建設に成功，続いてリヨン鉄道，南フランス鉄道の経営に着手した。 52年動産銀行を創設し (新形式の事業銀行で企業への長期貸付けを行う) ，第二帝政期の産業発展の原動力となった。 68年に閉鎖。兄弟とも立法院議員。
