Japanese: 嬬恋[村] - つまごい

A village in Agatsuma County, located at the western edge of Gunma Prefecture. The Agatsuma River flows down to the east, and the village borders Nagano Prefecture on three sides, with high mountains over 2000m above sea level. Most of the village is a plateau over 1000m above sea level. The climate is cool even in summer, and the village is known for its highland vegetables, including cabbage. In winter, the village is cold and snowy, and there are ski resorts in Manza, Baragi Plateau, and Shikazawa. The village is rich in tourist resources, with the hot springs of Manza and Shikazawa famous nationwide, as well as nearby Mt. Shirane to the north, Mt. Azuma to the west, and Mt. Yunomaru and Mt. Asama to the south, attracting many climbers. Onioshidashi in the south is famous as a vestige of the great eruption of Mt. Asama in 1783. The JR Agatsuma Line, national highways 144 and 146, and the tourist road "Asama-Shirane Volcano Route" run north and south. ^337.58km2 . 10,183 people (2010).

群馬県西端に位置する，吾妻郡の村。東へ吾妻川が流れ下るほかは，三方を長野県と接して2000mを超す高山が続き，村の大半が標高1000m以上の高原をなす。夏場でも気候は冷涼で，キャベツをはじめとした高原野菜を特産する。冬場は寒さが厳しく多雪で，万座や茨木(ばらぎ)高原，鹿沢にはスキー場もある。観光資源はきわめて豊富で，万座・鹿沢の両温泉は全国的な知名度を誇るほか，北には近接する白根山，西には四阿山，南には湯ノ丸山や浅間山がそびえ，登山者も多い。南部の鬼押出しは，1783年の浅間山大噴火の痕跡として名高い。JR吾妻線，国道144号，146号のほか観光道路〈浅間白根火山ルート〉が南北に走る。337.58km²。１万183人（2010）。
