A town in Koyu County facing the Hyuga-Nada Sea in central Miyazaki Prefecture. It lies on a wide alluvial plateau, and the western part is mostly mountainous and mostly national forest. It produces timber, fruit trees, and flowers, and is a specialty of sea urchins. It is served by the Nippon Main Line and the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway. It is home to the Osuzuyama Waterfalls (a scenic spot) and Tsuno Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Hyuga Province. Area: 102.11 km2 . Population: 11,137 (2010).
