…Hita, a tenryo established by inheriting Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Taiko Treasury land, became a daimyo's custody and a fudai domain before coming under the control of a magistrate in 1639 (Kan'ei 16) and a Hita magistrate was established. However, in the latter half of the Kyoho Reforms of the shogunate, the tax increase policy that had been in place since Okada Toshitada became Hita magistrate was approved, and Hita magistrate was promoted to gundai in 1767 (Meiwa 4) by Ibi Masatoshi. After four generations of the Ibi clan, the west country gundai changed drastically between the Hagura, Mikawaguchi, Shioya, Teranishi, Takeo, Ikeda, Yashiro, and Kubota clans, but Hita was once under the control of the Nagasaki magistrate Takagi clan. …
