Japanese: 綴方教室 - つづりかたきょうしつ

A collection of Toyoda Masako's writings. Toyoda was born in Honjo, a downtown area of Tokyo, in 1922. When she was in the fourth grade at Katsushika City Honda Tateishi Elementary School, she wrote in writing about the everyday life of ordinary people in the downtown area as seen through a child's eyes. Many of these were selected for the writings column of the magazine Akai Tori, and were highly praised by Suzuki Miekichi, and published as Spelling Classroom (1937) by Oki Kenichiro and Shimizu Koji. This book is a work that brings Toyoda's talent to life under Oki's guidance, and is different from the works of the Life Writing Movement, which positions writing instruction as an educational method of recognizing and thinking about real life.

豊田正子の綴方作品集。豊田は1922年東京の下町，本所に生まれ，葛飾区立本田立石尋常小学校4年生のとき，子どもの目に写った下町の庶民生活を綴方に書いた。それらが雑誌《赤い鳥》綴方作品欄に多数入選し，鈴木三重吉の高い評価を得，大木顕一郎･清水幸治共著《綴方教室》(1937)として出版された。同書は，大木の指導によって豊田の才能が作品化されたもので，綴方表現指導を現実社会の認識･思考の教育的方法として位置づける生活綴方運動の作品群とは異質である。
