Itabikazura - Itabikazura

An evergreen wisteria of the family Moraceae (APG classification: Moraceae). The trunk is brown and well-branched, and it puts out adventitious roots to climb stones and trees. The stipules are membranous and about 5 mm long. The leaves are alternate, egg-oblong, stalked, long and sharply pointed, with a rounded base, entire, leathery, and gray-white underside. Dioecious. The inflorescence is urn-shaped, with 1-2 fig-like inflorescences about 1 cm in diameter at the side of the leaf. It is almost sessile, with bracts at the base, and small male, female, and gall flowers inside, and ripens to a purple-black color. It grows on stone walls and cliffs, and is distributed in Niigata, Fukushima Prefecture and west of Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Okinawa, the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and China.

クワ科（APG分類：クワ科）の常緑藤本(とうほん)。幹は褐色でよく分枝し、不定根を出して石や木によじ登る。托葉(たくよう)は膜質で長さ約5ミリメートル。葉は互生し卵状長楕円(ちょうだえん)形で柄があり、先は長く鋭くとがって、葉身の基部は円く、全縁、長さ5～12センチメートル、革質で裏面は灰白色。雌雄異株。花序は壺(つぼ)状で、葉のわきに径約1センチメートルのいちじく状花序を1～2個つける。ほとんど無柄で基部に包葉があり、中に小さな雄花、雌花、虫癭(ちゅうえい)花をもち、紫黒色に熟す。石垣や崖(がけ)に生え、新潟、福島県以西の本州、四国、九州、沖縄、および朝鮮半島南部、台湾、中国に分布する。
