〘noun〙① To become a member of one's wife's family through marriage. To marry a daughter of a household or a widow and enter her household. Also, the husband. Adopted son-in -law . A child of a wealthy family. To enter into a marriage . ※Shiji Sho (1477) vol. 12 "Onna ka ━ irimu o ya na zo" ② (━suru) Under the Meiji Civil Code, to marry a female head of a household and become a member of her family. Also, the husband. ※Inu Kenka (1923) <Kaneko Hirofumi> vol. 1 "Though his mother was against it, Tada-san finally became a son-in-law (irimuko) in Okiyo-san's household."
