Chen Jun

A scholar from the Southern Song Dynasty in China. His pen name was Anqing and his title was Beixi. He was from Longxi, Zhangzhou (Fujian Province). He served as the Chief Lecturer of Anxi County, Quanzhou. He was one of Zhu Xi's most skilled disciples, along with Huang Yan (1152-1221). He excelled in thought, and inherited his teacher's teachings, mainly in the area of ​​philosophical theory, and worked to promote them. His main work, Ziyi Xianxi Ziyi (Detailed Lectures on Ziyi) (also known as Beixi Ziyi or Xingli Ziyi; written by his disciple Wang Jun), is a book that well represents his character, and provides a detailed discussion of the meanings of 26 (25 in some editions) important philosophical terms in Zhu Xi's philosophy, such as life, nature, heart, and reason.

中国、南宋(なんそう)の学者。字(あざな)は安卿(あんけい)、号は北渓(ほくけい)。漳州(しょうしゅう)竜渓（福建省）の人。官は泉州安渓県主簿(しゅぼ)。黄榦(こうかん)（1152―1221）と並ぶ朱熹(しゅき)（朱子）の高弟。思索に長じ、主として哲学理論の面で師の説を継承し、その宣揚に努めた。主著『字義詳講』（別名『北渓字義』あるいは『性理字義』。門人王雋(おうしゅん)録）は彼の特徴をよく表した書で、命・性・心・理など朱子学の重要な哲学用語26（版本によっては25）について、それぞれの意味を詳論している。
