Ultrastructure - Choubi Saikozo

This refers to the hyperfine splitting of spectral lines that appears due to the interaction between the magnetic moment of the electron and the magnetic moment of the nucleon. For example, in electron paramagnetic resonance absorption, when an unpaired electron interacts with the nuclear spin I , each of the fine structure lines split by the crystal field, etc., is observed to be further split into (2 I + 1) lines. The magnitude of the nuclear spin I can be determined from the magnitude of this splitting.

電子の磁気モーメントと核子の磁気モーメントの相互作用によって現れるスペクトル線の細かい分裂(hyperfine splitting)をいう．たとえば，電子常磁性共鳴吸収では，不対電子が核スピンIと相互作用しているとき，結晶場などによって分裂した微細構造線のそれぞれが，さらに(2I ＋ 1)本に分裂して観測される．この分裂の大きさから核スピンの大きさIを決めることができる．
