An evergreen climbing shrub of the Asclepiadaceae family. The flowers are bell-shaped with five lobes at the tip, the petals are white with red shading, and have a pleasant fragrance. They are planted as ornamental plants in greenhouses. They are native to Brazil and Argentina. They grow to a height of 3-4m, with green, rod-shaped stems that exude a white milky juice when bruised. The opposite leaves are oblong-lanceolate with pointed tips, truncated or wedge-shaped bases, and long petioles. The upper surface of the leaves is pale green. The undersides are covered with white powder and appear white. The inflorescences that emerge from the leaf axils bear several flowers in a corymb.
