Japanese: 国際電信電話[株] - こくさいでんしんでんわ

KDD was established in 1953 under the International Telegraph and Telephone Corporation Act (1952). It was established as a private company from the beginning in order to proactively introduce new technologies and operate flexibly. In 1963, KDD succeeded in relaying television between Japan and the United States via satellite, and in 1964, it began operating the first large-capacity coaxial undersea cable between the two countries, thus improving Japan's communications technology. As one of Japan's leading telecommunications carriers, KDD has also participated in the activities of international organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union.

国際電信電話株式会社法(1952)に基づき1953年に創設された会社。略称KDD。新技術を積極的に導入し機動的経営を行うため，当初から民営会社として設立された。63年に衛星を利用した日米間テレビ中継に成功，64年には日米間で初の大容量同軸海底ケーブルを運用開始するなど，日本の通信技術の向上を図ってきた。また，日本を代表する電気通信事業者として，国際電気通信連合をはじめとする国際機関の活動に参画してきた。
