This is a collection of poems by Fujiwara no Shunzei. It was self-selected in 1178 (Jishō 2) at the age of 65, shortly after he became a monk, and presented to Ninnaji Temple's Shukaku Hoshinno. It contains 479 poems. The first volume is composed of 100 poems, the second volume is composed of Seasons, Congratulations, and Love, and the third volume is composed of Miscellaneous, Buddhist, and Shinto. The title is a reference to the Empress Dowager's final official position, Daibu, and is based on the Chinese name of the Empress's palace, Choshūmiya. The majority of the poems are poems composed on themes such as poetry gatherings and 100 poems written in his youth and adulthood, but the style is generally very lyrical, and many of the works make full use of the technique of composing poems that incorporates scenes and expressions from classics such as stories, Chinese poetry, and waka poetry to enrich the content.
