Asaichi Isobe

1905-1937 A military officer in the early Showa period.
Born on April 1, 1905. Became a lieutenant in the army in 1929. Influenced by Kita Ikki, he aimed to reform the nation as an officer of the Imperial Way faction. In 1926, he was implicated in the November Incident (Military Academy Incident) by Muranaka Takaji and others, and was suspended for 1936. In the same year, he wrote an "Opinion Paper on the Purge of the Army" criticizing the Control Faction, and was dismissed from the army. In 1936, he led the February 26 Incident with Kurihara Yasuhide and others, and was shot to death on August 19, 1937. Age 33. Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Graduated from the Military Academy.

明治38年4月1日生まれ。昭和4年陸軍中尉。北一輝の影響をうけ,皇道派将校として国家改造をめざす。9年村中孝次(たかじ)らの十一月事件(士官学校事件)に連座し,10年停職となる。同年「粛軍に関する意見書」をかいて統制派を批判し,免官。11年栗原安秀らと二・二六事件を指導し,12年8月19日銃殺された。33歳。山口県出身。陸軍士官学校卒。
