Local Magistrate - Jibugyo
〘Noun〙① A job title in the Kamakura and Muromachi Shogunates. In the Kamakura Shogunate, they were in charge of roads and buildings in Kamakura. In the Muromachi Shogunate, the organization in charge of all matters related to houses and land in Kyoto was called a Jikata (local office) , and several magistrates were assigned as local yoryuudo ( local council members) under the chief, the local head (originally also called Kanrei), but both the head and the council members were sometimes called Jibugyo. ※Newly added - April 12, 1264 (Bun'ei 1), articles: "In the matter of the eastern provinces and sake, it is necessary to appoint the two guardians and the Kamakura Jibugyo ." ② In the early modern period, it was a colloquial term for the local office of the Osaka town magistrate. ※Haiku poem, Osaka Danrin Sakura Senku (1678), 8: "The saw is cutting through the woods (Saikaku) The Jibugyo is not left behind as the clouds circle the peaks (Honshu)"

〘名〙① 鎌倉・室町幕府の職名。鎌倉幕府では、鎌倉市中の道路・屋舎のことをつかさどった。室町幕府では京都市中の家屋宅地に関する諸事をつかさどる機関を地方(じかた)といい、職員には長官である地方頭人(当初は管領とも称した)の下に数名の奉行人が地方寄人(よりゅうど)として配属されたが、頭人も寄人も共に地奉行と称されることがあった。※新編追加‐文永元年(1264)四月一二日・条々「東国沽酒事 可守護人鎌倉地奉行」② 近世、大坂町奉行の地方役の俗称。※俳諧・大坂檀林桜千句(1678)八「鋸すみつぼかねかすかなり〈西鶴〉 地奉行ものこらずめぐる峯の雲〈本秋〉」
