Also known as Seal Island or Roppen Island. Tyureniy means "seal" in Russian. A small island south of the Cherpeniye (Northern Shiretoko) Peninsula on the southeast coast of Sakhalin. 700m long and 70m wide. Known as a breeding ground for fur seals and a colony of murres.
