Also known as the Teutones. A tribe that lived mainly on the Jutland Peninsula in the Late Bronze Age. They moved south with the Cimbri around 120 BC, and in 105 BC they defeated the Roman army on the Rhône River, earning them great fear. However, when they tried to advance into Italy, they were destroyed by the Roman general Marius at Aix-en-Provence in 102 BC. テウトネスTeutonesとも。青銅器時代後期にユトランド半島を中心に居住していた部族。前120年ころキンブリ人とともに南下,前105年にはローマ軍をローヌ河畔で破って恐れられたが,イタリアに進もうとしてエクス・アン・プロバンスで前102年ローマの将軍マリウスに滅ぼされた。なお,一般にはゲルマン人の同義語とされているが,ケルト人とする説もある。
