Chuzan Seifu

This is one of the official histories of the Ryukyu Kingdom. In 1701 (Genroku 14), Saitaku compiled most of the work in Chinese based on the Chuzan Seikan, but in 1725 (Kyoho 10), his son Saion made extensive revisions. The former is called Saitaku's version and the latter Saion's version, but generally speaking, Chuzan Seifu refers to Saion's version. Saion's version was continued to be written by historians after that, and consists of 13 volumes in total, with seven supplementary volumes. "Chuzan" is another name for Ryukyu, and "Seifu" means a royal record of the genealogy of the various warriors, and provides an overview of the reigns of successive kings. It is one of the fundamental historical sources for research into Okinawa history.

琉球(りゅうきゅう)王国の正史(せいし)の一つ。1701年（元禄14）『中山世鑑(せいかん)』をもとに蔡鐸(さいたく)により漢文でほぼまとめられたが、1725年（享保10）その子蔡温(さいおん)の手で大幅な改訂が加えられた。前者を蔡鐸本、後者を蔡温本と称して区別するが、一般に『中山世譜』という場合は蔡温本をさす。蔡温本はその後も史官の手で書き継がれ全13巻、附巻七よりなる。「中山」は琉球の別称で、「世譜」は諸士の家譜に対する王家の記録を意味し、歴代国王の治世の概要を記している。沖縄歴史研究の根本史料の一つである。
