A town in Shimokita District, Aomori Prefecture, at the northwestern tip of the Shimokita Peninsula. It includes Omazaki, the northernmost point of Honshu, and has close ties with Hakodate, which is served by ferry boats. The town is centered on fishing, producing kelp, squid, and tuna. 青森県下北郡，下北半島北西端の町。本州最北端の大間崎を含み，フェリーボートが通じる函館との関係が深い。漁業を中心とし，コンブ，イカ，マグロを産する。牛の飼育も行われる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。52.10km2。6340人（2010）。
