〘Noun〙① A stone mill used to grind tea leaves to make matcha. Stones from Asahiyama in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture are said to be good. ※Taiheiki (late 14th century) verse 18 "As the waves swirl, the boat turns even faster than pushing the tea mill ." ② To turn upside down. Also, to turn things upside down. It particularly refers to the sexual position in which the woman is on top during sexual intercourse. ※Ukiyo Zoushi, Ukiyo Eiga Ichidai Otoko (1693) verse 1 "In memory of this lifetime, I prepared the tea mill at the woman's request."

〘名〙① 葉茶をひいて抹茶を作るのに用いる石臼。京都府宇治朝日山の石が良いとされる。※太平記(14C後)一八「渦巻くに随て浪と共に船の廻る事、茶臼(チャウス)を推よりも尚速也」② 上下逆になること。また、上下逆にすること。特に男女交合で女性が上になる体位をいう。※浮世草子・浮世栄花一代男(1693)一「是一生のおもひでに女の願ひにまかせ茶臼(チャウス)を仕かけけるに」
