A town in Uryu County, Hokkaido. The Rumoi Main Line runs through the town. The eastern part is hilly, and the flatlands that follow were developed by the Tondenhei soldiers, and produce a lot of rice. Broccoli and persimmons are also cultivated. The low-lying, humid Uryu Plains in the southwest are less prone to flooding due to the construction of a dam upstream the Uryu River, and development has progressed. 47.18 km2 . 2,730 people (2010).
